QR Launcher Privacy Policy

QR Launcher – Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

QR Launcher does not sell your personal data, and most of what the app handles stays on your device. This Privacy Policy explains what information QR Launcher ("the App") collects, why, and the choices you have.

The App is published on Google Play by Metamorph AI Labs ("we", "us", "our"). By installing or using the App, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App.

QR Launcher is a home-screen launcher with a built-in QR code scanner, flashlight, wallpapers, widgets, weather, web search, app search and app management tools.

2. Information we collect and permissions we use

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, phone number or contacts. The App asks only for the permissions below, each tied to a feature. Sensitive permissions are requested at the moment you use the feature, and you can deny them; only that feature stops working.

  • Camera: to scan QR codes and use the flashlight. Images are processed on your device and never saved or uploaded.
  • Microphone: for voice search only. Recordings are not stored.
  • Location: to show local weather. We do not keep a location history.
  • Installed apps list: to show and search your apps in the launcher. This list stays on your device.
  • Uninstall apps: to remove an app when you tap "Uninstall". Android asks you to confirm first.
  • Widgets: to add widgets to your home screen.
  • Wallpaper: to apply the wallpaper you choose.
  • Display over other apps: to show quick App screens, such as app scanning prompts. It does not read other apps' content.
  • Expand status bar: to open the notification panel with a gesture.
  • Notifications: to send reminders and updates. You can turn them off anytime.
  • Run at startup: to restart launcher services after your phone reboots.
  • Internet: for ads, weather, web search and notifications.
  • Google Play Billing: for optional in-app purchases. Google Play handles payments; we never see your card details.

Information collected automatically. When the App is online, we and our partners may collect device and usage data. This includes device model, Android version, language, IP address, app version, crash logs, how you use App features, and the Android Advertising ID.

Information you enter. Search terms you type or speak are sent to the search provider you select to show results. QR code content you scan is shown to you and may be saved in your scan history on your device.

3. How we use information

We use information only to run, improve and fund the App. Specifically, we use it to:

  • provide core features: launcher, QR scanning, flashlight, weather, search, wallpapers and widgets;
  • show ads that keep the App free, and measure how those ads perform;
  • send notifications you have allowed, through Firebase Cloud Messaging;
  • process in-app purchases through Google Play;
  • fix crashes, prevent fraud and improve performance;
  • open links in the App (deep links) from our notifications or campaigns;
  • meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use camera, microphone or installed-app data for advertising.

4. Advertising

The App is free and shows ads served through Google AdMob, using the Google Mobile Ads SDK and the Google Mobile Ads Next-Gen SDK. We use AdMob mediation with multiple mediation groups. This means an ad request may be offered to several ad networks, and the network that wins shows the ad.

To serve and measure ads, Google and the mediation partners may collect:

  • the Android Advertising ID and other device identifiers;
  • IP address and approximate location derived from it, or device location if you have granted it;
  • device type, operating system, language and network information;
  • ad interactions such as impressions, clicks and installs;
  • general app usage information.

These partners may use this data to show personalized ads, limit repeat ads, prevent fraud and report results. Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies (Section 5).

Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland). Where required, the App shows a consent form through Google's User Messaging Platform before personalized ads are served. You can change your choice from the App's settings.

Your ad controls. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in Android Settings > Google > Ads (or Settings > Privacy > Ads). You will still see ads, but they will be less relevant.

5. Third-party services

The App uses the third-party services below. Each one handles data under its own privacy policy. The ad networks listed are mediation partners we may use; the active set can change between mediation groups.

6. Sharing, retention and security

Sharing. We share data only with the service providers in Section 5, and when required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Retention. Data kept on your device (settings, scan history, hidden apps, layout) stays until you clear the App's data or uninstall it. Analytics and crash data held by Firebase is retained under Google's retention settings. Ad partners retain data under their own policies.

Backup. The App supports Android backup. If you have Google backup turned on, your App settings may be saved to your Google account and restored on a new device.

Security. We use reasonable measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights and choices

  • Permissions: turn any permission on or off in Android Settings > Apps > QR Launcher > Permissions.
  • Notifications: turn them off in Android settings or in the App.
  • Ads: reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads (Section 4).
  • Delete data: clear the App's storage or uninstall the App to remove data stored on your device. To request deletion of any other data, email us.
  • GDPR (EEA/UK): you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent. Our legal bases are consent (personalized ads, location, notifications) and legitimate interests (security, crash fixing, non-personalized ads).
  • California (CCPA/CPRA) and other US states: you may request to know, delete or correct your data, and opt out of "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising by turning off personalized ads.
  • India (DPDP Act 2023): you may request access, correction and erasure of your data and raise grievances with us at the email below.

We respond to requests within 30 days.

8. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
